Mrs. Rachel Sanders Merritt

Rachel Sanders Merritt passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 5, 2017. She was the widow of Carl F. Merritt, Sr. She was the daughter of the late John Henry and Leona Sanders. Rachel was a faithful member Bethesda United Methodist Church for 67 years where she served on administrative Board as the Treasurer for many years. Rachel was also the Sunday School Teacher of the Irene Cely Class. She was a avid amateur golfer with numerous accomplishments. Rachel was a champion in golf as well as in life. She was the secretary of the Merritt Sales Company from 1972 to 2006. Rachel loved meeting and talking with people. She enjoyed investing in opportunities to bring hope and security for those in need. She is survived by four children: Susan M. Parson of Charlotte, NC, Carl F. Merritt, Jr. of Powdersville, SC, Leigh M. Skoglund of Greenville, SC and J.Mark Merritt of Greenville, SC; six grandchildren: Joseph and John Parson of Charlotte, NC, Matthew and Meredith Merritt of Easley, SC, McKinley and Piper Skoglund of Greenville, SC. A funeral service will be held at Bethesda United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 8, at 3:00 pm. Following the funeral service, interment will take place in Bethesda United Methodist Cemetery.
