Norm was the son of the late Avery and Emily McCarter. He was born on January 25, 1941 in Greenville, South Carolina.
He was a graduate of Greenville High and Clemson University where he obtained a degree in Structural Engineering. Norm was a retired engineer from JE Sirrine and CRS Inc.
Norm was a man of profound faith in Jesus Christ and a member of Taylors First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his beloved and loving wife of 60 years Gayle Gambrell McCarter; a son, Scott Parker McCarter of Greenville, SC and a daughter, Ivey McCarter Hock (Rene) of Dallas TX; grandson, Rivers Andersen Hock of El Paso TX and a granddaughter, Remington Ivana Gayle Hock of Jupiter, FL. He was predeceased in death by his cherished son Todd Norman McCarter and a sister in law, Patti Hood McCarter. In addition he is survived by a brother, Jim McCarter of Greenville, SC, a sister, Nelda Kay (Mike) of Taylors, SC; a brother in law, James (Karen) Gambrell of Greenville, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.
Norm is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday October 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Taylors First Baptist Church, with a receiving of friends starting at 9:30 AM. A graveside service will be held at White Oak Baptist Church Cemetery at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
