Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late George Cecil Smith and Daisy Aiken Smith. She was raised in Greenville, SC and graduated from Wade Hampton High School before attending Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Orlando, FL and a former member of Prestonwood Baptist Church of Dallas, TX, Trinity Baptist Church of San Antonio, TX, and First Baptist Church of Greenville, SC.
In her free time Nancy enjoyed antiquing, cooking, researching family history, home renovation projects and spending time with family while doting on her beloved Grandson’s.
Above all else, Nancy was consumed by her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her unfailing devotion to her family. She lived a life that reflected Christ’s love and shared the gospel message with anyone who would listen. Her self-sacrifice, unconditional love, and prayers for her family were never ending. Nancy leaves a legacy of enduring faith and compassion for others.
Surviving are her loving husband of 56 years, Richard Wayne “Buddy” Montgomery of Orlando, FL, son Richard Wayne “Mac” Montgomery, Jr. of Orlando, FL, daughter Meredith Elaine Montgomery of Centreville, VA, son Ryan James Montgomery of Atlanta, GA, and grandsons Richard Wayne “Tripp” Montgomery, III and Colin James Montgomery (whom she lovingly referred to as her “beloveds”) of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by her precious siblings including sister Elaine S. Eppes of Charleston, SC, brother Steven D. (Sophia) Smith of Columbia, SC, and brother David G. (Kay) Smith of Fripp Island, SC, and their respective families.
Services will be conducted on Saturday, January 6th at 2:00pm at Woodlawn Memorial Park Remembrance Chapel with Rev. Bryan Stokes officiating.
