Mary was born June 3, 1920 in Greenville, South Carolina where she grew up on Hillcrest Drive with an older brother Bobby and younger sister Margaret. Mary attended Queens College (now University) in Charlotte, North Carolina where she graduated with a degree in Art.
Mary and her husband, Henry, met as children in Greenville and often played together. Mary and Henry were married for 54 years until Henry’s death in 2011.
Mary was an active member of the Belton Presbyterian Church for many years where both Mary and Henry served in various ways.
Mary is survived by a son, Henry (Hank) Hester, Jr. and his wife, Margaret; grandchildren, Paul Hester and Megan Hester; nieces Marti Cash, Lane Gallup, Kathy Stanton, Mary Ann Hester; and nephew Charles (Chuck) Simmons and their families. Family was always very important to Mary; the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Mary and Henry’s house was always a big event and enjoyed by everyone.

A memorial service for Mary will be held at Belton Presbyterian Church this Friday, the 31st of August, at 11 o’clock in the morning, and visitation will precede at 10 o’clock.
