Born on June 21, 1956, in South Charleston, WV, Mary Beth was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother (nana), and great-grandmother. Mary Beth was a people person who deeply loved and was greatly beloved by almost everyone with whom she spent time. She had a remarkable sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. However, she was also compassionate and caring, always there to support and help those in need.
Mary Beth also loved animals of all kinds from an early age, She had many beloved pets. Most recently she enjoyed her mornings watching her "bird buddies" eat up all the bird seed in the yard. She did have her arch nemesis, the squirrel, named Fat Fred who loved to find new ways to sabotage the bird feeders and steal their food. Each year brought the start of a new battle of the wills.
Mary Beth worked diligently in various roles, including her last job as a letter carrier for the USPS, where she dedicated many hours to serving the community, handing out dog biscuits, and spending time with anyone who needed a friend. Mary Beth's friendly and kind nature extended to her family and friends, whom she fiercely protected.
She is survived by her husband, Doug Fredricks, her daughters Kim and Jennie, and her stepchildren, Mike Heath, Dana, and Mark Fredricks. Mary Beth's legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren, Madi, Tristan, Marigny, Hannah, Mason, and Hudson, Shaylin, Alana, Ashlyn and Logan, as well as her first great-granddaughter, Ka'lilah. She also leaves behind her sister, Rebecca Hudson, and nieces Sara, Somer, Ronda, Ashley and nephew Richard.
Mary Beth was predeceased by her father and mother, Bill and Millie Hudson, and her brother and sister, Steve and Judy. She also shared a special relationship with her grandad, Floyd Martin.
In her educational journey, Mary Beth attended Hurricane Elementary and Jr High in Hurricane, WV, before graduating from Southside Christian School in Greenville, SC. She furthered her education at Greenville Tech with an Associate's degree in Marketing.
Outside of her professional life, Mary Beth had a passion for sports- namely basketball, particularly West Virginia teams. She enjoyed watching football and basketball games, always cheering on her favorite teams. Mary Beth also cherished spending time with her grandchildren and was overjoyed, in March 2023, to become a great-grandmother.
Mary Beth's memory will be treasured by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Services to celebrate Mary Beth's life will be held on November 11, 2023 at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn, 1 Pine Knoll Dr. Greenville, SC 29609. Visitation from 10:30 am - 11:45 am and a Celebration of Life at 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation. Her presence in our lives will be enduring as we remember the way she loved and cared for all of us.
