Martha Jane, as she was called by her family, was born May 18, 1925 in Roanoke, VA to John Russell Hall and Martha Jane Raike Hall. She was the oldest of her two siblings: Frances Hall Shaver of Holden Beach, NC and the late Jacqueline Hall Martin.
Martha graduated from Jefferson High School in Roanoke, VA in 1943. She worked for the Appalachian Power Company and met Herbert Earl Wheeler at a Virginia Tech football game. They were married June 12, 1948 at Greene Memorial Methodist Church in Roanoke.
She became a full-time mother and homemaker to two children: H. Earl Wheeler, Jr. (Anne McCray Saunders Wheeler) of Charlotte, NC, and Jane Leigh Wheeler Koubek (Rudolph Koubek III) of Travelers Rest, SC.
Martha was an avid bowler and played in state championships several times. Once accepting Christ, she and her husband went on lay witness missions to many churches to tell others about what Christ had done in their lives.
While she lived in Virginia, Delaware, and Florida, Martha was active in her church until health issues brought her to South Carolina.
She is survived by her children, eight grandchildren, and five precious great-grandchildren.
