Woody foremost loved Jesus. He lived out his faith in Christ through his long-time service to his church as an elder, Sunday School and Bible teacher and he was dedicated to his family and friends knowing the joy of living a life with the Lord. Woody cherished his family and was truly blessed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
As a former private pilot, Woody enjoyed all things aviation from small to large aircraft. For years, every Friday, he took his daughter Dana to the downtown airport to watch the planes approaching and departing ensuring that the make and model of each plane was identified.
The heavens declare the glory of God and the skies proclaim the work of His hands and Woody spent many nights viewing God’s display of wonder through his telescopes. He knew all the details of the heavenly bodies and always looked forward to attending “Star Parties” throughout the southeast with fellow astronomers, many of whom became close friends.
Woody proudly served in the Navy onboard the aircraft carrier USS Lexington. Later he spent many years in the mechanical industry which led to Woody starting his own mechanical cost estimating company EstiComp up to his retirement.
Woody is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Stone; his children Don Stone (Cathy), Kim Nelson (Greg), Eric Dieffenwierth (Teresa), and Dana Stone; his brothers Kevin Stone (Janet), Blayde Stone (Lori), Derve Tyler (Dolores), Lisle Tyler (Cynthia) and his sister Mary Ross (Tom); his grandchildren Shelbi Sweeney, Amber Stone, Alexander Dieffenwierth, and Elli Dieffenwierth; his great granddaughter Marlie Lafrenier and his great grandson Jozeph Boles.
