Linda Jean Hamilton, a dedicated elementary school teacher whose passion for education touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024 surrounded by her loving family and caregivers. She was 81.
Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, Linda pursued her calling in education, earning her undergraduate degree from the University of Akron and later obtaining a Masters in Education from Clemson University. For the majority of her career, she imparted knowledge, kindness, and wisdom as a beloved teacher at Armstrong Elementary School. Her commitment to her students went beyond the classroom, leaving an indelible mark on generations of learners.
Outside of her professional life, Linda found joy and support in music, sharing her talent playing the clarinet with the Greenville Civic Band. In retirement, she continued her musical journey as a cherished member of the Senior Action Band, which was established by her late husband Phillip “Ron” Hamilton.
Linda's warmth and generosity endeared her to all who knew her. She was a pillar of strength and support for her family, friends, and colleagues, and her absence will be keenly felt by the countless lives she touched.
Her loving husband Ron Hamilton passed last year after 40 years of marriage. She is survived by her sister, Robin Willey; her daughter, Jennifer Wood (Terry), and their children, Zac and Zoey. Additionally, Linda leaves behind her stepchildren, Phil Hamilton, Holly Jackson (James), and Katie Hamilton, along with grandchildren Corinne, Will, Bridget, Megan, and Brian, and numerous other cherished relatives. She was predeceased by her sister, Cathy Pillitiere.
Linda Jean Hamilton will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her unwavering love, compassion, and dedication to her family, education and music.

Services for Linda will be held at Mackey Funerals and Cremations Woodlawn on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM with a funeral service at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park following the service.
