Linda was born June 1, 1945 in Greenville SC and passed away peacefully on July 9, 2023 at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital. She attended Parker High School and later accomplished her goal of obtaining a real estate brokers license. She was very successful in residential and commercial real estate in both Myrtle Beach and Greenville SC. She absolutely loved the beach and spending time with her family... especially her grandkids.
She is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Evelyn Gibson, brother Roger D. Gibson and sister Kathy D. Grumbles.
She is survived by son Doug Bates (Amber), daughter Tracy Bates, daughter Kelly Unterreiner (Mark), 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins that she was close to.
Although she bravely fought the battle of Lupus disease for over 25 years, she did her best to keep living life on her own terms and not let it get her down.
She adored her dog Charlie and all her beloved pets over the years. Her door was always open to anyone in need and never met a stranger. She was a fierce “mama bear” who raised three strong children on her own and would go to the ends of the earth to protect them. Her quick wit and humor will be sadly missed but never forgotten by all that had the honor of knowing her. She passed away on her beloved sisters' birthday at 11:36 PM just in time to celebrate with her.
A special thank you to all ICU staff and hospice nurses at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital for their kindness and support during her last days.
A memorial service for Linda will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
