She was born July 17, 1949 in Palestine, Texas. She moved to Greenville when she was young. She graduated from Greenville Senior High School and attended Furman University and graduated from Stratford University.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jim and Margaret Casteel, whom she loved very much and will be reunited with in heaven.
She is survived by the love of her life and her husband of 43 years, Robert Ellis of Greenville, to whom she was deeply devoted. She is also survived by her children Jay Taylor (wife Megan) of Beaufort, SC, Curtis Taylor (wife Hope) of Greenville, Chad Ellis (wife Bec) of Greenville and Jeremy Ellis of Greenville. She is also survived by her sister Sally Craven (husband David) and brother Jim Casteel. She had four grandchildren: Katherine Taylor, Grace Taylor, Langdon Taylor and Adelle Taylor.
Lacey loved spending time with her family and friends. She also loved painting. Lacey had several jobs over her life including interior decorator and real estate, but one of her favorites was being a kindergarten teacher at First Baptist many years ago.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2023 from 4 to 6 at Mackey Funeral and Cremations at 311 Century Drive, Greenville SC 29607. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 2:30 pm at Christ Church Episcopal, 10 N Church St, Greenville, SC 29601, followed by a reception.
