John C. Wesson

John was born in Camden, Arkansas and grew up in El Dorado, Arkansas. He graduated from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia Arkansas in 1962 with a BA in Industrial Management. He was an Air Force Veteran and worked in the textile industry for 35 years. He retired from WestPoint Stevens as a Safety and Medical Director.

John was a member of Mauldin First Baptist Church and served as an usher and greeter. John enjoyed tennis and fishing. He loved people and never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife Donna of 60 years and daughter Janet Mercer (Craig) of Lake Hartwell. Granddaughters Michelle Baldwin (Austin) and Morgan Shiels (Chas). He is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Louise Wesson.

A viewing for John will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Mauldin First Baptist, 150 S Main St, Mauldin, SC 29662 a funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary. There will be a brief gathering of family and friends in the vestibule of the church following the service.

A committal service will be held at 1:00 PM at Greenville Memorial Gardens, 7784 Augusta Road, Piedmont, SC 29673.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mauldin First Baptist at 150 S Main St, Mauldin SC 29662 for the benefit of Upstate Backpack Blessings Ministry.
