John Mark Smith

John Mark SMITH, age 57, of Taylors, passed away on Thursday, May 25th at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Columbia, South Carolina in 1966, the family relocated to Taylors, South Carolina in 1968. Mark was the youngest son of Shirley Ann Grant Smith and the late Reverend John M. Smith. He attended Greenville Public Schools including Taylors Elementary School, Sevier Middle School and Wade Hampton High School.

He loved Carolina (USC) football, Nascar, fishing and sports of all kinds. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and most particularly, Hailey, Ivy and Savannah. He deeply appreciated the support of his family, particularly his mother, Shirley.

The family celebrates his choice to be an organ donor and are proud that in his death, he was able to give the gift of life to others through Sharing Hope SC – South Carolina Organ and Tissues Recovery Services.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley Ann Smith, and his brother, Rev. David Smith (Vicki) of Alpharetta, GA. He is also survived by his daughter, Hailey Ann Smith and granddaughter, Ivy, in addition to his step-daughter, Savannah Padilla McClure (Taylor), and his nephews Jonathan Smith (Jessica) and Daniel Smith, both of Nashville, TN.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, May 27th at 2:00 PM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive, the family will receive friends following the service. An Inurnment will be private with the family.
