John was a graduate of Youngstown South High School and Kent State University where he was captain of both his high school and college basketball teams.
He began his career working with Union Carbide Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio. Although trained as an engineer, John’s strong management skills led him to leadership positions in Marketing and Production Management. His expertise was applied to company sites around the United States as well as overseas in England and Brazil. He enjoyed sharing the experiences of living in so many places with his family.
After retiring from Union Carbide, John started a second career with C. Dan Joyner Realtors and was very active in the Greater Greenville Association of Realtors, serving on many committees and holding the offices of Treasurer, Vice President and President in 2003. John was Broker in Charge at the Pelham Road office and later the Director of Senior Services.
John loved to travel and had friends all over the world with whom he shared many adventures. Some of his escapades included running with the bulls in Spain and dancing in the streets of Rio during Carnival. John was an ardent golfer and one of his favorite trips was with his golf buddies to St. Andrews in Scotland.
He is survived by his brother, Edward, of Canfield, Ohio, four daughters, Charlene Adam and her husband, Hassan, and their children, Laila, Aaliya, Shariff, and Taheera; Linda Reynolds and her husband, Sam, and their children Victor and Riley; Cindy Laursen and her husband, David, and their son, Jack; and Kerry Moore. John was very excited to have recently welcomed his great-granddaughter, Farrah, daughter of Laila and Jesse.
Also surviving is John’s longtime partner, Ginny Wylie. Ginny has been a loving and supporting partner to John for over 20 years.
The family will receive friends at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM. A Funeral service will follow in the chapel at 12:00 PM. Private burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family welcomes flowers. In lieu of donations or gifts, our family would love for you to raise a glass in honor of John as well as to honor those who you are grateful to have in your lives. Time together with those you love is the most valuable commodity for us all, and the best way for you to remember John is by appreciating your own family and friends in a commemorative toast of togetherness.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mackeycenturydrive.com for the MOORE family.
