Born in Franklin, NC, he was the son of the late William and Inez Parrish Houston. He was retired from Sangamo Electric Co., Pickens, a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church, and a US Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Opal Aldridge Houston of Taylors; two daughters: Sylvia Freeman of Taylors and Linda Smith of Greenville; a son: Terry Houston of Rock Hill; five grandchildren: Kim Shealy, Scott Houston, Karen Houston, Monica Freeman, and John Freeman; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Houston is also survived by four sisters: Ann Cantrell, Novella Sharpe, Jessie Doty, and Mary Alice Childs. He was predeceased by a daughter: Gloria Page and two brothers: W.G. Houston and Verco Houston.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 2:00 – 3:00 pm in the funeral home.
