Joe Wright

On January 5, 2022, at the age of 87, the Lord called Joe home. He lived in Taylors, SC most of his adult life and was loved by all who were blessed to know him. After an automobile accident in September 2021, He spent weeks in Greenville Memorial Hospital and Patewood Rehab Center. On November 18, 2021, we finally got to take him to our home in Hopkins, SC. We were happy to have him with us during his last days. This enabled him to see more of his family. In the early morning hours, he passed peacefully, walking with His Lord.

He was born in Fork Shoals on April 4, 1934 to Furman Franklin and Susie Marie Kernells Wright. He married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Ellen Sims January 18, 1952. God blessed this union with three sons, Steven Craig, Billy Joe and Keith Wayne.

He was a licensed minister, a humble man and wonderful father. He was a kind and loving servant of our Lord and is and will continue to be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a quiet man, and true to his Heavenly Father in all of his dealings with those around him.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, His Mother and Father, Granny Sue and Pa Wright. He was also preceded in death by his two Sisters, Clara Mae Wright Padgett and Evelyn Doris “Dot” Wright Meeks.

Joe is survived by his three sons and their families, including Daughters-in-Love, Florence and Carol, Granddaughters, Pauline, Ariane, and Elsbeth, Grandsons, Eric, Brenton, Steven, and Douglas, Great Granddaughters, Nora, Sara and Lirael and Great Grandsons, Todd, Max, Braeden, and Adrian.

On Saturday, February 12, 2022, there will be a celebration of life for Joe at Earle Street Baptist Church, where he was a proud member of The NOP Sunday School Class. He was one of the Oldest Church Members before his passing. Earle Street Baptist Church is located at 225 West Earle Street in Greenville South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a contribution in memory of Joe to Earle Street Baptist Church.

Visitation with the family is at 1:00pm. The service begins at 2:00pm.
