Jessie Cholon Roaden, formerly of Roberta Drive in Greenville, passed away on Sunday August 23 in Aiken. He was preceded in death by his wife Eula Mae Nicholson Roaden, daughter Joyce Nicki Roaden Chandler of Commerce, GA., and granddaughter Stacie Amelia Chandler of Commerce, GA.
Jessie was born September 7, 1919 in the Bark Camp community near Corbin, KY. He was the youngest son of Charles Henry and Mary Jane Roaden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Leonard, Bill, Johnny, Lawrence, Lake, Ambrose, and Dewey and sisters Maggie, Nanny, Garnietta and Mattie Bell.
He is survived by sons Kenneth (Judy) of Frisco, TX., Glenn (Kay) of Easley, David (Sandra) of Simpsonville, and Roy (Diane) of Aiken, and son-in-law Billy Chandler of Commerce, GA. He had 7 grandchildren Lynn Crocker (Jeff), Hope Moore, Jesse Michael Roaden (Melody), Lindsay Boyer (Shawn), Leslie Curry (Bo), Jessica Rosales (Vince), and Brittany Gatewood (Cole). He had 15 great grandchildren.
During his life, Jessie was ever faithful to his Lord serving as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Song Leader. He was a member of Hampton Heights Baptist Church.
Jessie was a retired textile supervisor working for several companies including Oxford Mfg., Piedmont Shirt, Stone Mfg. and Dann Mfg. in Travelers Rest before his retirement.
Visitation will be Saturday August 29 at 10:00 A.M. at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Services will follow at 11 A.M. He will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Crocker, Michael Roaden, Shawn Boyer, Bo Curry, Vince Rosales and Cole Gatewood.
