Jean F. Sharpe, 89, of Greenville, SC, peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023. She was a beloved mother, wife, friend, and businesswoman, whose life and influence will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Jean was born on April 23, 1934, in Greenville SC, where she spent most of her life. She was a proud Greenville High School alumni and remained close to many of her classmates over the years.
She enjoyed serving the real estate community and over her extensive 30-year career, owned her own real estate company and brought the Coldwell Banker real estate franchise to Greenville. She served proudly as the first woman president elected to the Greenville Board of Realtors (now Greater Greenville Association of Realtors®). Jean was named Realtor® of the Year in 1984 and won numerous awards, held various offices, and served on numerous committees over her career.
During her business career, Jean also served as chairperson for 300 for Greenville, was a Regional Director of BB&T Bank, and served on the Real Estate Advisory Board for Greenville Technical College. Jean was known for her strong Christian faith, business ethics, and dedicated service to the Greenville business community.
She was passionate about assisting organizations supporting juvenile diabetes and organ transplantation. Over the years, Jean served as Director for the National Kidney Foundation, worked with the Juvenile Diabetes Association, and Donate Life America, a nonprofit organization supporting organ and tissue donation to save and heal lives through transplantation.
Jean is survived by her devoted daughter, Kelly Pearce and husband Frank Pearce, son in-law Dohn Bower, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Will and Ann Fowler, her loving husband, LeRoy Sharpe, two sisters, Jan Rack and Billie Burns, and daughter, Kimberly Bower.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff of Passion Caregivers, LLC for their kind and benevolent care, and to Interim Care Hospice for their generous support.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, August 21 at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville SC 29609 with visitation beginning at 9:00 am and services at 10:00 am. A private graveside service will follow immediately afterwards for family and invited guests.
