Jan Merritt passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, of complications following a stroke. She was the daughter of the late James and Edith McClure and grew up in upstate South Carolina, graduating from Parker High School in 1966 and living in Greenville County for the remainder of her life.
Jan is survived by her children, Russ Merritt (Elizabeth) of North Augusta, Brian Merritt of Greer, and Julie Cirillo (Matt) of Taylors. In addition, she is survived by her five grandchildren, Jack Merritt of Washington, DC, Charles Merritt of Washington, DC, Robin Merritt of North Augusta, Zeke Pope Merritt of Campobello and Greer, and Cyann Cirillo of Taylors. Jan’s sister Kim Kemp (Randy) also survives her, as does her niece Jamie Clymer (Jonathan). Jan’s beloved niece Madison predeceased her. Numerous other family and friends are left to remember Jan’s life.
A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park in the Remembrance Chapel, 1901 Wade Hampton Blvd. Greenville, SC 29609. The congregation is invited to greet the family immediately following the service.
