Born in Laurens County, SC he was the son of the late John Thomas and Corrie Elizabeth Ridgeway Cothran.
He retired from Duke Power after 36 years, was a Navy Veteran, serving in WWII, and a member of Double Springs Baptist Church, Taylors. He also work with the Civilian Conservation Corp.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years: Bessie K. Cothran; two sons and daughters-in-law: A. Roland and Marion D. Cothran, Steven C. and Marta Frey Cothran; a daughter: Barbara D. Price; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Annie Holiday, Betty Thompson, Mary Cothran and a brother: Wendall Cothran.
He was predeceased by a son-in-law: James C. Price, 3 sisters: Lilla Darby, Sadie Henderson, Pally Watkins and a brother: Charlie Cothran.
Funeral service will be Friday, April 2, 2010 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home with entombment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm in the funeral home.
