J. C. Rosemond, age 74, of Greenville passed peacefully on September 24, 2015 at his home surrounded by his beloved family. He was born in Greenville a son of late Thomas Rosemond, Sr. and Jannie Mae Gaines Rosemond. J. C. was a 1960 graduate of Sterling High School where he played football (#62) with Jesse Jackson and was a veteran of the US Army. He was a devoted member of New Beginnings Methodist Church where he served as a lay leader and sang in the Men’s Chorus and was a member of VFW Post 6734. Mr. Rosemond was employed by the Poinsett Club with 50 years of distinguished service where he served as Head Maitre D’. September 21, 2015 was declared “J. C. Rosemond Day” in the City of Greenville by Mayor Knox White. Throughout his life he enjoyed traveling. Surviving are his loving daughters, Nida Harris (Rickey) of Greenville and Mercedes Dean (Rev. Kenneth) of Belton; grandchildren, Morrio Davis, Melissa Davis, Samuel Shumate, Kayla Dean, Sidney Dean, and Jeremiah Dean; companion of 28 years, Anne Poole; two nephews and three nieces. In addition to his parents he was preceded by a daughter, Erica Lynn Davis, brothers, Artis Gaines Rosemond and Rev. Thomas Rosemond Jr. and sister, Robbie Jean LaBoone. Visitation on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 5 to 7:00 PM at Mackey Mortuary. Graveside service on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM in M. J. "Dolly" Cooper Veteran's Cemetery, Anderson.
