Helen Mary Tratch, Robinson, Guthrie age 96 passed away on 11/20/2023 in Hospice at NHC in Greer, SC. Born in Philadelphia, 9/9/1927 Graduated from Glassboro HS. 1945, Glassboro NJ, Graduated Thomas Jefferson Nursing School in Philadelphia PA 1948. Married David Morton Robinson, MD in 1951 in Philadelphia.
Helen spent her childhood in Pennsylvania and NJ. once married moved to Indiana for her husband Dave’s internship and then to WV for life and children. When an empty nester and widow she moved to Roanoke VA in 1984, remarried 1992 and Moved to Florida thereafter in Fort Myers till 2014 when widowed again she moved to Chesterbrook PA. Moved to Simpsonville, SC to Legacy Reserve independent Living apartment. 2022.
Helen was a postal worker in high school and was a dedicated Registered Nurse, wonderful Wife and Mother, She enjoyed caring for her dog Honey Bun who preceded her in May She enjoyed walking, swimming,, wood crafting, painting on canvas, rocks and dolls, Sewing, Crocheting and gardening to the very end.
She was a Magnificent Caring person who survived Monoclonal Blood Cancer and scummed to Metastatic Skin Cancer after 5 years of treatment.
At 96 years of age she was the last of her generation and is Preeceded in Death by:Husbands David Morton Robinson, MD, of Bridgeport WV and John Bernard Guthrie of Roanoke VA and Ft Myers, FL. Her parents Helen and William Tratch of Bridgeport, WV. And Williamstown, NJ. and her brother John Holleny,chicken rancher and wives Agnes and Thelma Holleny, of Williamstown. NJ, and their son, her nephew John Holleny II, Special Ed teacher, his wife Sherry Holleny a social woker of NJ, and a Great niece and their daughter Laura Holleny Czaikowski of PA. A brother Mike Holleny, retired Navy and wife Joyce Holleny a school teacher of Williamstown NJ. Sisters Elizabeth Tratch, Dance Instructor and RN of Williamstown, NJ and Boston, MA and Catherine Tratch Gallagher Dance Instrutor and Social Worker of Williamstown NJ and Visalia CA, and nephew Tom Reppard of VA.
She is survived and loved by daughter Sandra Jean Robinson, DO, of Conrad MT, David M Robinson, II, MD, West Chester, PA, and James W Robinson, MD Fountain Inn, SC. and Spouse Clifford Alfred, Cynthia Brouse Robinson, MD, Joanne Engel Robinson. RN, Grandchildren: Kellie Robinson Ricculli, Social Worker Joe Ricculli, of Hoboken, NJ, Matthew Robinson, MD, of NEW York City , NY, Christopher Robinson, of Fountain Inn, SC, Michelle Robinson, PhD, of Philadelphia PA. Shannon Robinson, MD, of Alexandria, VA and Great Grandchildren Nicholas and Charles Ricculli, of Hoboken NJ, James and Clare Robinson. of Fountain Inn, SC. Nephews and nieces David B Reppard, , NCIA of VA. Sue Dignan, Secretary VA, Jill Erickson, RN of Greenville, VA Louise Cornet, of VA James Pierce, Engineer of Alexandria, VA and Auston, TX and his son David of TX, Cathy. Messick Secretary , of VA. Bob Pierce of Alexandria, VA and Steve Pierce of Alexandria VA. Janice Holleny Nichols School teacher and husband Reverend Willard Nichols of Dingman Ferry PA and their children Jared Nichols and wife Holly of PA and Wesley Nichols in PA . Jim and Bobbie Holleny Sales in NJ and Richard in Antique Sales and Nancy Holleny in North Myrtle Beach, SC, 3 step daughters Candy Andrews, Connie and Kenny Self, Rene Horne, granddaughter Melanie and husband Greg Blankenship and great grandchildren: Javen, Eva, John, Branson, and Destiny .
Helen’s plan were to be cremated at Mackey Funerals and Cremations in Greenville SC, Followed by interment in Benedum Cemetery in Bridgeport WV next to her husband David Morton Robinson in Spring of 2024, Date yet to be determined. A family grave side memorial service is planned at that time.
A Memorial Celebration Service is Planned at Legacy Reserve Independent Living Center in Simpsonville, SC where she last resided independently December 19, 2023 at 3:00 PM.
Pastor Reverend Dr. Mary Anne Welch of the First Presbyterian Church of Simpsonville 510 Curtis Street, Simpsonville 29681 had a period of remembrance on Sunday the 26th of November,2023 which can be viewed on their website for Helen’s fellow parishioners. The entire family appreciates that remembrance.
