Jerry—better known as “Pappy” to all who loved him— was born on October 3rd, 1962 to Linda Ann Davis and Gerald Kenneth Davis Sr. Though born in Orlando, FL., Jerry was raised and lived his whole life in Greenville, SC. He graduated in 1980 from J.L. Mann High School, where he could be found in the parking lot showing off his Pontiac Firebird. He was the best slalom water skier you would find behind a Baretta, the best skater at the rink, and also one great storyteller.
Jerry was known to be selfless, full of encouragement, and ever the optimist. If you needed it and Jerry had it, it would be yours. He was a faithful follower of Christ and memberof 4 Points Church, whose example of love and generosity he shared with others daily. Jerry served as Headmaster of the Miracle Hill Boys Home for five years, where he changed the lives of countless young men. He later went on to work in manufacturing and became an integral member of the logistics team at AFL, a leading provider in fiber optics.
Jerry was happiest while mowing the lawn and keeping the cars spotless. He was the first to say the blessing and the first to come back for seconds, and he also made sure Honey, the cat, ate well. He will be remembered for loving his family and friends.
Jerry is survived by mother, Linda Davis; son, Trey and daughter-in-law, Tuesday Davis, and granddaughter, Cove. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald “Kenny” Davis Sr. Flowers may be sent to Woodlawn Memorial Park/Mackey Mortuary, or donations may be made to Miracle Hill Ministries Overcomers Center in Pappy’s honor.
A visitation for Gerald will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29607, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow immediately in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
