Mrs. Eleanor “Gail” Coleman Mahaffey, 85 years of age, went to be with Jesus on January 28, 2022. She was born on May 10, 1936 in Augusta, GA to the late Thomas Jefferson Coleman and Mamie Rosalee Collins Coleman. She was the beloved wife of Aaron W. Mahaffey, Sr. until his death.
Gail grew up in Abbeville, SC. She attended Belton-Honea Path High School and Lander University. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and remained devoted her entire life. She attended Broadmouth Baptist Church, Honea Path, SC until she was united in holy matrimony to Aaron W. Mahaffey, Sr. in 1959.
Gail was devoted to her faith and family and an inspiration to all. She was a dedicated member of Taylors First Baptist Church assisting in many areas of the church including Sunday School Class, nursery, preparing meals, providing care and support to the homebound and widows. Gail enjoyed traveling, music, playing the piano and clarinet. She was a sports enthusiast, especially when her children and grandchildren were playing.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her surviving family; son, Aaron W. Mahaffey, Jr. of Taylors, SC; daughters: Karen M. Walters of Taylors, SC and Sheri M. Regan (Tim) of Greer, SC; three grandchildren: Colin T. Walters, Casey W. Benfield (Eric), and Timothy A. Regan; and a host of devoted, cousins, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be a private family service officiated by Dr. Jimmie E. Harley at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park followed by burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
