Finous Coleman Jr, 96, of Greenville, SC and then later from Mt. Pleasant, went home to be with The Lord on November 19, 2024. He was the son of the late Finous and Edna Spires Coleman of Winnsboro, SC.
He attended Mt. Zion Institute in Winnsboro and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in business administration. He began a career in accounting working for Liberty Life Insurance Company in Greenville, SC. He then proceeded with a lifelong career at Yeargin Construction Company and Yeargin Properties until his retirement.
Finous and his wife, Margaret, spent many years in Greenville, SC, where they raised their family. They were previously active members of Leawood Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities throughout the years. He was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, treasurer and participated in their music program. Finous was also in the Army Reserves 351st Engineers where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
In addition to his parents, Finous is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Margaret Sims Coleman, two sisters, Pat Porter and Sandra Turner and a granddaughter, Lauran Ashton Burns.
Finous is survived by his son, Dennis Coleman (Ronique), daughter, Diana Waldrep (Stanley), daughter, Donna Adams (Jim), brother, Jimmy Coleman and sister, Alicia Pope (Bubba).
Also survived by his grandchildren: Ryan Coleman, Kimberly and Brandon Tanner, Jamie and Elizabeth Waldrep, Jeremiah Waldrep, Emily and Eric Masaitis, Donavon and Katie Burns, Truett Burns and Brittany Burns; and his great grandchildren: Kingston Tanner, Jackson Tanner, Easton Tanner, Emma Waldrep, Katherine Waldrep, Tobias Burns, Baylor Burns and Coleman Burns.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a memorial donation to Earle Street Baptist Church located at 225 W Earle St, Greenville, SC 29609, where he was a member, or to a charity of one’s choice.
The family will receive friends at 12:00 PM, with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 1:00 PM on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Remembrance Chapel, 1901 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Greenville SC.
Services will be conducted by Dr. Stephen Clyborne.
