Ethel was born in August 1936 in Dobson (Surry Co), NC. She grew up as the youngest of 13 children in a loving family. She met the love of her life, Harold, at the young age of 18; they married in December 1936. She joined him in Honolulu, HI where Harold was stationed in the US Army. It was there that they started their family.
Ethel devoted her entire life to the care of her husband and 3 girls. She also was a devoted, loving, and caring grandmother and great-grandmother. She had abundant drive and energy, a light-hearted spirit, and loved to read, garden, sew, cook, as well as shop her favorite thrift stores. She was creative when working with her hands. She painted lovely pictures, embroidered beautiful doilies, made aprons for the church fund-raising, and made the best home-made biscuits.
Ethel is survived by her loving children, daughters: Debora S. Gaze (Don), Wilma S. White and Pamela S. Woodacre, six grandchildren: Michael D. Gaze, Jeffrey H. Gaze, Shane E. White, Kristen W. Sprouse (Jhawnluc), Melissa A. Woodacre, Andrew J. Woodacre, as well as five great-grandchildren: Nora, Logan, Jhawnluc Jr, Adalynn, and Noah.
She joined her immediate family in heaven, parents: Susan Alice Wood (d.1949) and Berry Ebin (Linville) Edwards (d.1954), and 12 deceased siblings.
