Ella McWHITE

Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Cullen and Camily Ward McWhite, Sr. She graduated from Mars Hill College and Southwestern Baptist Seminary.

In the early 70’s she worked as a director of special community services for Bacon County, Alma, Ga. In 1975 she became director of Mission Friends and a business manger of Camp Rawls for Woman’s Missionary Union, auxiliary to SC Baptist Convention. In 1980 she became a business manager for WMU camp, working with the operation of Camp Rawls and assisting with the development of Camp La Vida. Previously she served as educational director for churches in South Carolina and Georgia. Most recently was attending West Gantt First Baptist Church in Greenville.

She is survived by two brothers: Cullen B. McWhite, Jr. and Ruben D. McWhite and brother-in-law W. "Dee" Welborn; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers: Thomas D. McWhite and Albert D. McWhite; and a sister: Frances Welborn.

Funeral service will be Monday, March 8, 2010 at 2:30 pm in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm in the funeral home.
