Douglas Frere Caffery, beloved son of Bill and Colleen Caffery of Mount Pleasant, SC, died Friday, December 2nd in Greenville, SC. He was hit by a car crossing the street near his new apartment. Doug is survived by his parents, his younger sister Molly, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and his three older brothers: Captain William J. Caffery, Jr., USA, at Ft. Belvoir, VA; Dexter Alexander Caffery, of Salt Lake City, UT, and Jefferson Marker Caffery, of Greenville, SC.
Doug was a 2013 graduate of Staples High School (Westport, CT), later earning his B.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa, AL) earlier this year. He had recently relocated to Greenville to join his brother Jeff and and Jeff’s fiancé Breanne, both recent graduates of Clemson University (South Carolina).
Doug was a member of the Alabama National Guard. Apart from serving his country, his proudest achievement was completion of basic training at Fort Benning, GA, during the summer of 2015. His two greatest passions, a life-long love of music and the expansion of his many friendships, always stood out. More than that, he loved his new job and was so very excited about a career in automotive service with the Toyota Corporation.
