Doris Jeanne Searle Shipe, age 98, of Greenville, South Carolina, formerly of Herndon, Pennsylvania, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 7, 2017. She was born in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, April 24th, 1919 to Stanley G. Searle, Sr. and Jeannette Clemens Searle, who preceded her in death. Jeanne graduated from Sunbury High School in 1938. She was proud to call herself a “third warder”. Her husband, Jack Pershing Shipe, died in 1985. Jeanne and Jack enjoyed many happy years together raising their two children, operating the Creative Playthings educational toy business and traveling throughout the United States and Europe. Jeanne was an avid homemaker and loved decorating, painting and all manner of hand sewing. She also loved to read and play golf. Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Audrey Mustacchia Gladstone, in 2006, a brother, Stanley Searle, Jr. and two sisters, Audrey Grammer and Julia Bailey. Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Elaine Beck, a son-in-law, Edward T. Beck, a granddaughter, Gina Mustacchia of Allentown, PA, seven nieces and nephews, six step-grandchildren and thirteen step-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Simpsonville, on a later date and a graveside service will be held at the Herndon Cemetery in the fall of 2017.
