Dennis Dwight Sides

He was born in Greenville, SC, to the late John Alvin Sides and Mattie Greene. Dennis was a proud graduate of Parker High School, North Greenville College and Furman University where he was part of the golf team and a member of KA fraternity; in 2014 he was inducted into the KA Court of Honor. While in school he served twice in the US Army as a Cryptologist and in 1962 joined the US Army National Guard. Dennis was also a lover of dance and was inducted into the Shaggers Hall of Fame in 1991.

Dennis was dedicated to his family and his church. He was baptized in 1947 at his childhood church, Union Bleachery Baptist Church. Dennis was a long time member of Taylors First Baptist where he was involved in many activities, including the Sandra Brown Sunday School Class and the basketball team, coaching and as a referee.

Dennis retired From Richtex Brick Corporation where he was in sales for many years.

Surviving are two daughters: Denise Sides Smith (Randy) of Rock Hill, SC and Allison Sides Green (Scott) of Woodruff, SC; four grandchildren Blake Green, Avery Green, Reed Green, and Allie Green; special friend Celia Price; and numerous nieces and nephews: Phyllis Birckbichler (John), Katie Mauldin (Tim), Shane Birckbichler (Lindsey) and Children and Hannah Mauldin. He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Sides Robinson and her husband Martin Robinson.

Family will be receiving friends prior to the service on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Taylors First Baptist Church Chapel from 12:00 to 1:30 PM, followed by funeral services at 1:30 PM, with Lindsay O’Rear officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville, SC.
