Claud "Cy" Charles Armstrong, Jr. passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014. Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Claud Charles Armstrong, Sr. and Addis Rogers Armstrong Rowland. Cy was a graduate of Furman University and the University of Miami. Cy was a Tech Sergeant with the US Air Force during WWII. His selection to the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) led him to be involved in highly confidential matters during the war. The OSS was the WWII predecessor to the CIA. Cy loved BIG BAND MUSIC and he organized the "Cy Armstrong and the Black Light Rumba Band" which played for many years in the 50's and 60's. Cy was a very social person. He was a member of Eastlan Baptist Church and many organizations and clubs in the area like the Greenville Country Club, a Scottish group, American Legion, etc. Cy owned a Containers Accessory business. He is survived by his loving wife: Eileen Mathis Armstrong of Greenville; a sister-in-law: Mary Mathis Szymborski of Kings Mtn, NC; two nephew-n-laws: Thomas (Pattie) Szymborski of Durham, NC and Paul (Jane) Szymborski of Shelby, NC; as well as many cousins and friends. The family would like to give special thank s to Cy's caregivers: J. B. McCoy and Sheila Glenn and all the staff of Always Best Care. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home followed by the funeral at Woodlawn at 1:00 pm and then the burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
