Charles Jack Jackson Taylor

Charles Jackson “Jack” Taylor, 93, of Greenville, SC, passed away on June 22, 2017. Born in Laurens County, SC, he was the son of the late Floyd G. and Bertha Deitz Taylor. Jack was a graduate of Clemson University, Class of 1944. He served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant during World War II in the 66th Black Panther Division/264 Regiment, Third Batallion Company L.

He is survived by his children, Patti Levin and her husband, Ken of Southport, NC, Nancy Freeman of Greenville, SC, and Jackie Langston of Atlanta, GA; his grandchildren: Michael, Laura Lee and Bryan Freeman of Greenville, SC, John Fansler and his wife, Julia of Wake Forest, NC, and great-grandchild, Sydney Fansler of Wake Forest, NC; his brothers, Bryce Taylor and his wife Hazel of Cocoa Beach, FL, Floyd Taylor of Laurens, SC, and Kenneth Taylor and his wife Sara of Laurens, SC; and his sister-in-law Shirley Hogan.

In addition to his parents, Jack is predeceased by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Elsie P. Taylor and his brother, Maurice Taylor.

Jack was a member of First Baptist Greenville and was an active member of the M. T. Anderson Sunday School Class. He loved spending time with his special friends from Sunday School and church. He was a compassionate man and enjoyed serving others through charity work.

Above all else, he loved and was dedicated and committed to his family and friends. He was selfless, gracious, and caring, always looking out for others. He had a joyful spirit, and his smile and positive attitude touched many hearts.

Services will be conducted at 3:00pm on Monday, June 26th in the Carpenter Chapel of First Baptist Greenville with Rev. Kendra Plating officiating. A burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00-2:45pm at the Carpenter Chapel.

The family would like to thank the staff at Rolling Green Village for his exceptional care during the last three years.
