Ray was born in Greenville, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Charles D. and Lorene G. Mabry.
He is survived by the love of his life for sixty years, Ruth Rogers Mabry. Also surviving are a son, Charles R. Mabry, Jr. and his wife Sheila who reside in Canton, Massachusetts, a daughter, Carole L. Mabry of Spartanburg, a grandson, Chase Mabry and his wife, Deanna and great granddaughter, Savannah Stanton of Atlanta and another grandson, Brooks Mabry of Fort Worth, Texas, two brothers, Bob Mabry and his wife Barbara of Taylors, and Joe Mabry and his wife, Jo Ann of Greer.
Ray was a graduate of Clemson College in the class of 1953. After serving two years in the Army, he spent his career in the textile industry working in executive management positions with Burlington Industries, M. Lowenstein and Mount Vernon Mills.
Ray is a member of First Baptist Church, Simpsonville and the Steve Hiott Sunday School Class. A devout Christian, Ray served God as a deacon, Sunday School Teacher and on various committees. He was very active as a lay speaker in a number of churches and denominations and frequently addressed civic clubs and business meetings.
A celebration of his life will take place at the Mackey Mortuary Chapel on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 11 a.m. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.
Entombment in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Members of the Steve Hiott Sunday School class and their spouses and the Lydia Sunday School class and their spouses and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Proctor are honorary attendants.
