She was born in Travelers Rest on February 1, 1947; was a proud graduate of Parker High School; and owned a beauty and barber shop in Easley for many years.
Carolyn was preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Vera Williams; son Patrick W. Patterson, brother William "Bill" Bates Williams; and niece Leah Williams. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Patterson; sister, Marolyn (Ron) Amick; nephews Kirk (Sarah) Smith, Zack Williams (Anna), and Scott (Heather) Smith; niece, Carolyne (James) Billings; grandnephew Williams Smith; and grandnieces Madison, Sullivan, Macie Grace, Carolyne Joy, and Savanah. She had a host of friends including three very special ones whom she considered her “sons”; Will Smith, James Moore and Mason Barkley.
Carolyn was the epitome of a Southern Belle. She loved dresses, shoes, handbags, Charleston, and would never be seen in public without her makeup. She was an adventurer who backpacked through Austria and Germany; chaperoned high school students to Paris; toured Scotland, Ireland, Canada and Mexico; visited most of the islands in the Caribbean; and traveled extensively in the U.S. At the time of her passing, she was preparing for a trip to Italy by learning Italian.
A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, with visitation at 10:30 AM followed by the service at 11:00 AM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. Carolyn requested that flowers be omitted.
