Brandon Kent Bays

Brandon Kent Bays, formerly of Greenville, SC, and son of Brad and Jessie Bays, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 17, 2021. “Buzz,” to his friends and family, was known for his sense of humor and clever one-liners. He loved cooking, enjoying birthday sushi with his sister Katherine, and had several hobbies including golf, snowboarding, and marksmanship which he learned from his dad. His relationship with his mom was cherished and profoundly tender. He enjoyed time with his mom showing her all the spots that were special to him. Brandon was thoughtful and creative with an inquisitive mind. His artistic sensibilities showed through his drawings and his eclectic taste in music. He also had a strong work ethic, having learned the importance of working hard from his dad. He and his nephew Stevie shared a unique connection. Whether building a toothpick bridge, hitting golf balls, or wandering aimlessly through Home Depot, the bond they shared is irreplaceable.

Brandon is survived by both his parents Bradley and Jessie Bays, paternal grandmother Barbara Bays, his sister Katherine Kay, and his nephew Stevie Wagner, the mother of his children, Alicia Rowland, as well as his two children: Cameron and Katelyn, who loved him and will miss him immensely. Brandon is preceded by paternal grandfather, Kenneth Bays, and maternal grandparents: Jim and Donna Herbert and his beloved dog & best friend, Pudge.

Brandon was never happier than when he was with his children. He spoke often of their adventures, whether hiking on the rock house, going fishing, or simply spending time together. They were his world and he loved them with every fiber of his being. Cameron inherited his dad’s dry, quick-witted sense of humor and Katelyn, his passion and flair for the dramatic. The memories they have of their times together will never be forgotten.

Brandon is dearly missed, and our hearts will never be the same. But that’s okay—it means he mattered.

Brandon was an organ donor and was able to give the gift of life to others.

A memorial service for Brandon will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive, 311 Century Drive, Greenville, SC 29607,with visitation prior from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM.
