Betty Jane Williams, 90, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. She was born in Chester, Pennsylvania to the late John C. and Martha T. Ruckle and was the second of four siblings. Betty married the late Robert L. Williams in 1950, who spent his career in the textile division in regional production planning with Monsanto. They lived in Decatur, Alabama, Greenville, SC and Charlotte, NC. They finally relocated to Greenville, SC with their 3 sons where Betty and Bob eventually retired.
Betty was a nurse, wife, mother, grandmother of 9, great grandmother of 5 and homemaker. She played the piano, gardened, bowled, played golf, square danced, knitted, crocheted, was a seamstress, a member of Eastern Star, an avid reader, a faithful Christian woman, and a member of Aldersgate Methodist church in Greenville. She was an excellent artist who created a number of beautiful acrylic and watercolor paintings over the years enjoyed by her family and countless others.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, John C. Ruckle and Martha T. Ruckle, her older brother, Johnny Ruckle, her middle son, Robert H. Williams (Fran) and her husband, Bob.
Survivors include her siblings, Ken Ruckle (Carol) and Marty Loden (Steve); her sons, D. Charles Williams (Dru Ann) and Kenneth L. (Wendy); her grandchildren, Christopher Williams (Andrea), David Williams, Bobby Williams, Jody Williams, Craig Williams (Jenna), Jenna Lombardi (Andrew), Holland Williams, Grayson Williams, and Jacob Williams (AJ); great grandchildren, Hank Williams, Aaron Lombari, Clare Lombardi, Layne Lombardi, and Caroline Williams.
A funeral service will be held at the Mackey Funerals and Cremations at 311 Century Drive, Greenville, SC 29607 on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 12:30 PM with visitation beginning at 11:30 AM.
