Barbara transitioned from this life into the presence of her Lord on November 13, 2017. Those fortunate enough to know her recognized, through her hospitality to others, that she was a servant of Christ. Barbara, the woman with an infectious and loving smile, is survived by Dan, her husband of 54 years. Also surviving Barbara, are a son, Daniel Thompson, daughters Laura Boukedes (Darryl) and Trayce DeLeon (Eddie), 6 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, a sister Susan Zych (David), and a brother Jack Vernam (Brenda).
Barbara was born in Miami, FL on January 24, 1941 and attended FSU where she met her husband, who she married 1 year after his graduation. They then moved to several cities until they discovered Greenville, where they lived for 34 years. Wherever Barbara was, she was known as a hostess, cook, southern lady and Christian.
To celebrate the life of this courageous woman of deep character and conviction, a funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 19th, at 3 PM at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be prior to service from 1:30-3 PM. Graveside service for family will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
