Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Donald Wesley Kitchen; her daughter, Julie Kitchen Mayer (Doug); her grandchildren, Lindley (Gordon), Brock and Brantley; and her great grandson, Ford.
Barbara was born on November 13th 1938 to Ethel Bayne Lindley (Mom) and Alton E. Lindley (Dad). She died peacefully hand in hand with the love of her life on December 31st, 2023.
Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Everyone who knew her was incredibly blessed by her Godly influence. She worked at Winn Dixie for 47 years and loved plants, gardening and her family and friends dearly. She was an avid supporter, donor and board member of her granddaughter’s charity, Lindley’s Alliance. She helped raise thousands of dollars to benefit the special needs community. She also loved attending the Miss South Carolina pageant for many years and supporting her daughter and grandchildren.
The visitation is scheduled for 1pm on Monday, January 8th. The service will be held immediately following at 2pm at 1 Pine Knoll Drive Greenville, SC 29609 to honor Barbara’s memory, her love for God and others, her welcoming smile and her steadfast faith.
Barbara was selfless, loving, giving and will surely have a crown in heaven full of jewels for her devotion! She will be deeply missed but all who love her are thankful she is rejoicing in heaven.
