Born in Burgaw, NC, he was the youngest of 7 children.
He was predeceased in death by 4 sisters, 2 brothers, and a son, Aaron Heide, III, of Anderson.
Dr. Davis received a $50 scholarship to Wake Forest College. On his paperwork, someone had written “pre-med.” As he had not chosen a career path, he decided to try medicine. It was a perfect fit. He received his medical degree from Bowman Gray School of Medicine. Dr. Davis served as Chief of Staff for Greenville General Hospital (now Greenville Memorial) as well as President of Medical Staff for Greenville General and St. Francis Hospitals. Dr. Davis served on the staff of Greenville Hospital System for 55 years and continued in private practice until he retired in 2005 at the age of 81. By the time of his retirement, Dr. Davis was treating the 4th generation of many Greenville families. Dr. Davis had a devoted wife, 5 children, 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. His first love after family was always the practice of medicine.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sally Margaret, daughter Margaret Weaver (Nelson) of Summerville, SC; son Ted Davis (Debby) of Greer, SC; daughter Fran Sembert (George) of Greensboro, NC; and son Tim Davis (Sharon) of Greer, SC.
