Phyllis June Aukerman, age 97 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 8:21 AM Thursday January 20, 2022 at the EverHeart Hospice Care Center in Greenville. Phyllis was born June 7, 1924 in Van Buren Township Darke County, Ohio and the daughter of the late Edward and Clara (Riffell) Cissner.
She retired in 1984 from Fram Corporation of Greenville where she had been employed for 27 years as a line inspector. Phyllis was an active member of the Painter Creek Church of the Brethren and the Women’s Fellowship of the Church. She also was a 1942 graduate of Franklin School, which was located in Franklin Township of Darke County and through the years loved spending time in her garden and was particularly known for her African violets.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ivan Aukerman May 24, 2002. They were married March 12, 1944. Also her brothers Jacob Cissner and Elmer Cissner and sisters Mary Seman and Oletha Olwine.
Phyllis is survived by her children Donald (Betty) Aukerman of Greenville and Sandra (Tim) Gilmore of Willard, Ohio; grandchildren Sara (Eric Fiest) Cofer, Adam (Dareth) Gilmore and Hannah (Jon) Souza; step grandchildren Dawn Thornbury, Douglas Rogers and Duane Rogers; great grandchildren Madison Cofer, Gabe Cofer, Georgia Fiest, Cael Gilmore, Brielle Gilmore, Ciaran Gilmore, Ania Souza, Josiah Souza and Jaina Souza; step great grandchildren Kenton Addyson, Iris Kenworthy, Ariana Thornbury, Joshua Thornbury, Athena Thornbury, Kayden Thornbury, Tessa McClure, Macie Hannan, Adam Boyers, Jessica (Patrick) Lockhart, Ashley (James) Hannan, Gavin Rogers, Kira Rogers, Morgan Rogers, Harper Rogers and Randall Rogers as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday January 24, 2022 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastors Phil Reynolds and Bill Dobson co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Newcomer Cemetery Franklin Township Darke County, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home.
It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to the EverHeart Hospice of Darke County or the Painter Creek Church of the Brethren.
