Marjorie Ann (Marge) Heckman, 81, of Greenville, formerly from Celina, died at 4:45 PM on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Brethren's Home Retirement Community. She was born March 8, 1943, to Lester H. and Lola (Fleming) Bollenbacher, both deceased. On June 4, 1966, she married Donald R. Heckman, St. Henry at Immaculate Conception Church, Celina, who survives her.
She is preceded in death by her parents as well as her brother Walter Bollenbacher
Also surviving are son, Christopher Heckman, Greenville, Celina, sister-in-law Geraldine (James) Schmackers, Philothea, and a number of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Marge graduated from Celina High School with the class of 1961 and graduated from Wright State University in 1980. She started working at the Celina Insurance Group on June 1, 1961, as a transcriber, left in 1964 to go to New Idea Farm Equipment, Coldwater, as a secretary. She worked at New Idea until December 1994. In June 1995 she returned to Celina Group as a secretary and retired from there for health reasons December 1, 2003.
Marge was a member of the Celina Business and Professional Women's Club for more than 30 years, having served as every office and President 2 years. She was a District Director of BPW and was chosen as Woman of the Year at one time. While at New Idea, she was a member and President of the New Idea ladies Club, she served on their Penny-An-Hour committee, and New Idea 's annual company picnic committee for many years. While at Celina Group, she was a member and President of the National Association of Insurance Women.
While her son was in school, she was very involved with PTO at I.C. (serving as President once), I.C. band boosters (President 1 year). In high school she was band boosters President 3 years, one year working alone with many other boosters working and successfully raising enough money for new uniforms.
Marge, her husband along with another couple were responsible for the formation of a neighborhood watch in the area where they lived in Celina. Marge also served on the Combined Charities Committee for a number of years.
She was a member of the Greenville Missionary Church, Greenville.
Marge loved to travel and with her family traveled 48 states (excluding Alaska and Hawaii), four Provinces in Canada (PEI, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario), all by car. She also was an avid reader, loved doing word search puzzles, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and an avid TV viewer.
Marge believed in the adage "Laughter is the Best Medicine", and "When Life Hands You Lemons, Make Lemonade". She also believed that one should "Live, Laugh and Love".
Services will be at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 2 PM with Pastor Gary Oser officiating. Burial will be at Greenville Union Cemetery Mausoleum, Greenville.
