Duane O. Hobbs, age 76 of Greenville. Ohio passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 1:35 PM, with his wife and daughter by his side. Born in Greenville on March 24, 1947, he was a son to the late Ovid Oren & Fay Opal (Hobbs) Hobbs. Duane was veteran of the United States Army National Guard. Duane was a lifelong farmer and, over the years, he worked for various trucking companies including J. O. Berkeley & IML Trucking. He later worked hard to establish Hobbs Trucking. Duane started his own business, Dependable Specialties, where he did lawn care, snow removal, and various other odd jobs. He was a member of the Stelvideo Christian Church, as well as a member of the Greenville Elks; Moose Lodge; Eagles; Legion and the NRA. Duane was an avid outdoorsman, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and boating. In his free time, you could find him playing cards, going to car shows, and traveling. He will truly be missed. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Constance “Connie” (Dent) Hobbs.
Duane is survived by his wife of 7 years, Ann (Renfro) Hobbs: children Stacy & Ryan Hoying; Scott & Michelle Hobbs: step-son Tommy & Jordan Renfro: grandchildren Lauren Hoying; Lillian Hobbs; Madeline Hobbs; Lincoln Hobbs; Nora Renfro; Ava Renfro: sister Wilma Jean Nisonger.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor’s Anthony Austin & Sam Shilot presiding. A private burial will take place at a later date at Abbottsville Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice if desired.
