Norman “Norm” Denny, 68 of Greensburg passed away on January 23, 2015. He was born on June 11, 1946 in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of Dr. Norman E. and Helen Louise Denny. Norm was a 1964 graduate of Lincoln High School and a 1969 graduate of Indiana State University with a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education in 1972. Norm married Kathy Organ on June 14, 1969 in Vincennes, Indiana. He taught Calculus, Mathematics, and Physics at South Decatur High School before retiring in 2001. He loved teaching so much that even after retirement Norm continued teaching at North Decatur as he was needed. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he was the Treasurer and an Elder, Greensburg Optimist, Greensburg Country Club, and the Decatur County Family YMCA. Norm was an Avid Golfer and IU fan.
Survivors include: Wife- Kathy Denny of Greensburg, Indiana; Children- Ryan Denny of San Francisco, CA and Betsy (Justin) Cotton of Round Rock, TX.; Grandchildren- Piper and Ava Cotton; Brothers- Dr. Bruce Denny of New York City, NY and Stephen Denny of Berkley, CA. He was preceded in death by his Parents.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland Howe Funeral Home on Monday, January 26, 2015 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Bob McAulay will be officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana or to the Children’s Room Greensburg Public Library.
