Lavon Avis Crowley White

Lavon Avis White, 83 of Greensburg passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. She was born on March 9, 1931, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Avis (Owsley) Crowley. Lavon was a 1948 graduate of Henryville High School. She attended the Clarksburg Covenant Church. She married T.J. White on October 10, 1952 in Austin, Indiana and he preceded her in death on March 11, 1984. Lavon and T.J. owned and operated KFC franchisee in Lawrenceburg, Batesville, Greensburg, Connersville, Rushville, and Harrison, Ohio, she retired in 1993. Lavon was dedicated to her family; she loved country music, was an avid Pacers fan and never missed an Andy Griffith episode.
Survivors include: Daughters- Janey (Rick) Lewis of Batesville, Geri Schweinhart of Greensburg, Son- Tom (Karen) White of Batesville, Sisters- Gerry McIntosh of West Harrison, Margaret Young of Rushville, Grandchildren- Aaron (Brittany) Lewis, Shannon (Donald) Powers, Chris Schweinhart, Kari Schweinhart, Kali Moffett, Thom Jr. (Megan) White, Lindsey (Kris) Hortemiller, Molly White, 12 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her Parents, Husband, and Sister Evelyn Stotts.
A visitation will be on Saturday, July 5, 2014 from10:00 am until the time of the Funeral at 1:00 pm. all at the Gilliland Howe Funeral Home. Rev. Peter Casalino will be officiating. Burial Services will take place at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Henryville, Indiana at 3:30 pm Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Lung Association.
