Elsie McCamment Carel, 99, of Greensburg passed away on July 12, 2015. She was born on October 8, 1915 in Zenas, Five Points, Indiana, the daughter of William and Pearl (Ponsler) Black. Elsie married Leonard McCamment, in 1931, and he preceded her in death. She later married William H. Carel and he also preceded her in death. Over the years Elsie worked at Kenny Car Liner in Shelbyville, Greensburg Dress Factory, Milroy Tomato Company, GE Electric of Shelbyville, Rushville Furniture Store, Vines Poultry of Greensburg, and Black Brothers Construction of Greensburg. She was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the First Baptist Church of Greensburg. She enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, gardening, and being with family.
Survivors include: Daughter- Linda McGinn; Son- Larry (Cynthia) McCamment; Step sons- Jerry (Cheryl) Carel and William (Joyce) Carel; Brother- Robert (Bertha) Black; Grandchildren- Timothy McGinn, Christopher McGinn, Meegan (Michael) Colliger, Keegan (Katie) McCamment, Kieran McCamment; Great Grandchild- Kaleigh and Kole McGinn, Sophia, Samuel, William, and Benjamin Colliger, and Nolan McCamment; Family friend- Dale Ortman; and several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her: Parents; Husbands; Sister- Martha Grimes; Brothers- John Black, William Black, Lester Black, and Raymond Black.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home from 10:00 pm until the time of the funeral at 2:00 pm. Rev. David Thompson will be officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Mary’s Building Fund.
