William Franklin Roberts Jr. (Bill), 74, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Dec. 17, 1946 in Atlanta, GA, the son of William Franklin and Jean McDonald Roberts, Sr. He attended Gordon High School, Georgia Institute of Technology where he was a brother in Phi Kappa Sigma, Georgia State University where he earned his BS in Chemistry, and UNCG Bryan Business School where he received his MBA. He spent his working career of 35 years with H.B. Fuller Company, first as a chemist and later in management. After retiring from HB Fuller he worked at New Garden Nursery as a systems analyst. He was a Deacon of Pleasant Ridge Christian Church where he actively volunteered with their mission and ministry. Bill also volunteered with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and was an avid supporter of 2nd Amendment Rights as a Lifetime member of the NRA.
Bill is survived by his wife Jacqueline Sikes Roberts (Jackie) of the home; sister, Nancy Roberts Wilson of Snellville, GA; children; Cathleen Roberts Owen and husband Kevin of Mason, Ohio, Heather Erin Roberts Atwell of Greensboro, NC, William Franklin Roberts III (Billy) and wife Joy of Suffolk, VA; grandchildren; Theodore Kirk Atwell Jr. (20), Patrick Conner Owen (20), Colin Riley Owen (16), Ross Aidan Roberts (17), and Emerson Sikes Roberts (12).
Private family services will be held at Pleasant Ridge Christian Church on Friday February 5th at 11:00am with burial to follow at Westminster Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Bill’s family requests that memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Make A Wish Central & Western NC, 217 E. Tremont Ave, Charlotte, NC 28203.
