Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2012 at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 100 NC Hwy 150 W, Greensboro. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Bill was born in Guilford County on May 26, 1927 to Turner and Marie Pearson. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during World War II. He has been a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church since 1940. He was a beloved family man and career farmer. Bill was a great lover of the outdoors including fishing, hunting, and gardening. He played baseball in his youth. He enjoyed watching professional baseball especially the Atlanta Braves and college basketball especially the Duke Blue Devils.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters; Ruth Ann Kenner and Mary Elizabeth Adkins; one son, George Alvin Pearson, four siblings, David Pearson, Charlie Pearson, Jean Beasley, and Dorothy Nelson.
Mr. Pearson is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances Bowman Pearson; sons, Clay and wife, Donna; Jay and wife, Paula; daughter, Karen Starnes; sisters, Margaret Walker, Sara Lee Sheppard, and Blake Pearson; brother, John Pearson, eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and 1 loved cat, “Oreo”.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home N. Elm St.
