A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Westminster Gardens Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Centenary United Methodist Church, with Rev. Kelley Groce officiating.
Born in Greensboro on June 20, 1924 to the late William Pleasant Holt and Stella Teague Holt, Bill was a charter member of Centenary United Methodist Church. He served on every committee that he could volunteer for and was extremely active in the church, serving in various positions. Bill was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army and was owner/operator of Electric Supply and Equipment Company in Greensboro. He graduated from Greensboro Senior High School and served as a Troop Leader for the Boy Scouts, Troop 156 for many years. Bill was an avid golfer but, his favorite past-time was spending time with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be truly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Rebecca Eloise “Teny” Bostick Holt, and his sister Jean Holt Rook.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Rebecca H. Bettini of Oak Ridge and William “Rusty” Holt (Cindy) of Greensboro; a brother, James Russell “Corky” Holt of High Point; grandchildren, Karen F. Fletcher of Winston-Salem, Kendall F. Blackwelder of Bethany, and William Andy Holt of Kernersville; 4 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; and other extended family.
