William "Bill" Arthur Goodson Jr.

William (Bill) A. Goodson Jr, 87, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014. He is survived by his three children William A. Goodson III and his wife Leigh Goodson of Ridgewood, NJ, Missy Chance and her husband James Chance of Jamestown, NC, and Thomas H. Goodson of Greensboro, and his grandchildren Mika Chance, James Chance and James Goodson, his sister Francis Randolph. He is predeceased by his wife Jane Bohannon Goodson and his sibling Mary Jean Gregory.

Bill was born and grew up in Asheville, NC. Upon graduation from NC State University he worked for the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. Then he and his wife, Jane owned and operated Allen Hardware in Greensboro for many years. He later began a landscaping and tree service where he worked until he retired.

He served in WW II in the United States Marine Corps aboard the U.S.S. Fall River in the Pacific Theatre. He also served the City of Greensboro as a Police Reserve Officer for over 20 years. He was very active as a leader and facilitator with AA.

Visitation will take place at the Parish Hall at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 3506 Lawndale Drive, Greensboro, NC from 5:00 to 7:00 on Friday, April 4, 2014.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Saint Francis Episcopal Church at 11:00 a.m.
