William Francis Gilbert Sr.

William Francis Gilbert Sr., 77, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015, at his home, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 18, 1937, the son of William Hart and Ellen Maurer Gilbert. William proudly served his country in the US Army, serving two tours in Vietnam and retired with twenty years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed.

William is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Ann Gilbert of the home; children, Tom “Tommy” Gilbert and wife Ellen, Terry Gilbert, Billy Gilbert and Lori Underhill and husband Don, all of Greensboro, NC. Robert Gilbert and Brian Gilbert; grandchildren, Ernie Gilbert, Kyle Underhill, Nick Gilbert, Evan Underhill, Luke Gilbert, Will Gilbert, Thomas Gilbert and Ethan Gilbert and two great grandchildren, Chloe and Olivia Underhill.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church on Friday, 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Eric Kowalski officiating. Burial at a later date will be at Salisbury National Cemetery.
