Visitation for Butch will be held Friday, August 26, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Buffalo Presbyterian Church, 803 16th Street, Greensboro, NC 27405, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Butch was born on October 15, 1943 in North Wilkesboro to Garfield Burchette and Thelma Burchette. He married his loving wife Rebecca (Gant) Burchette on October 16, 1964. Butch was a retired captain with the Greensboro Fire Department for more than 30 years. He was an amazing man of faith and he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. His favorite pastimes were spending time with his grandchildren, playing golf with his firefighter brothers, watching Carolina basketball, the Atlanta Braves, and serving his community.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents Garfield and Thelma, his brother Harold Combs and his sister Patricia Ashley.
Surviving are his devoted wife Rebecca Burchette of Greensboro, daughter Tracey Simmons and son-in-law Michael Simmons of Greensboro, beloved granddaughter and grandson Hunter and Tristen (Ashlee Simmons), great-granddaughter Emerson, and sister-in-law Martin Gant.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Buffalo Presbyterian Church (address above) and AuthoraCare Collective, at 2500 Summit Ave, Greensboro, NC 27405.
